The PABSEC Delegation composed of Mr. Igor Becic, Head of the PABSEC Serbian Delegation and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the Fifth Plenary Session of the South East European Cooperation Process Parliamentary Assembly (SEECP PA), hosted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia during 13-14 April 2018 in Ljubljana. The representatives of the SEECP PA Member States and the representatives of the European Parliament, of the Baltic Assembly and of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean took part in this gathering. Dr. Milan Brglez, President of the SEECP PA and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and Mr Andrej Logar, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia addressed to the participants at the Opening Ceremony. In the Plenary Session, the discussions were focused on the “SEECP PA perspective in the light of new geopolitical relations in Europe”, as the main topic of the General Debate. The members of the Assembly debated and adopted the Reports and Recommendations of: the SEECP PA General Committee on Economy, Infrastructure and Energy, the SEECP PA General Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Security Cooperation and the SEECP PA General Committee on Social Development, Education, Research and Science. Mr Branko Zorman, Chair of the SEECP PA Standing Committee, reported on the participation of the SEECP PA delegation in the Baltic Assembly and Baltic Council Sessions in Tallinn and on the participation of the SEECP PA delegation in the PABSEC General Assembly in Kiev. The Assembly also discussed the issue of the seat of the permanent SEECP PA Secretariat. Mr. Hajiyev, in his address, underlined the importance of the Black Sea Region in the world and informed the participants about the problems that the BSEC region is facing, particularly about the refugees’ issue. He stressed that the BSEC Member States are concerned about the multiple effects of migration, since this region represents an area of both sending and receiving migrants, as a final destination or as a transit area. The PABSEC Secretary General also informed that the PABSEC discussed issues regarding the social rights of the migrants and the illegal migration and adopted the Reports and the Recommendations on this subject. Mr. Hajiyev underlined that the PABSEC has strengthened its cooperation with the SEECP PA in order to share valuable experiences, to implement joint projects and to organise mutual events in the future. In the framework of this meeting, Mr. Hajiyev met with Mrs. Maja Gojkovic, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and informed her about the upcoming Conference of the Presidents of the Parliaments of the BSEC Member States. Mrs. Gojkovic expressed her full support for the PABSEC activities and confirmed her participation in this important meeting. At the end of the Fifth Plenary Session of the SEECP PA, the participants adopted the Final Declaration.
