Participation of the PABSEC Secretary General, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, in the 23rd Autumn Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Istanbul, 17 November 2025
On 17 November 2025, the PABSEC Secretary General, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, took part in the 23rd Autumn Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), which was held in Istanbul at the Hilton İstanbul Bomonti Conference Center. The meeting was attended by parliamentary delegations of the OSCE participating States, representatives of OSCE institutions, as well as international organizations and parliamentary assemblies. The event focused on the theme “OSCE — 50: Renewing Multilateralism through Dialogue and Cooperation.” At the official opening session, speeches were delivered by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, the OSCE Secretary General, Mr. Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu, and the President of the OSCE PA, Mr. Pere Joan Pons. In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening peace, stability, and sustainable development. The work of the conference continued within the framework of three specialized sessions, which addressed key aspects of international cooperation aimed at ensuring security, sustainable economic development, and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms. On the sidelines of the event, the PABSEC Secretary General held a meeting with the TURKPA Secretary General, Mr. Ramil Hasan. During the discussion, the parties exchanged views on expanding joint activities and on upcoming events planned within the framework of PABSEC and TURKPA. Both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and developing initiatives of common interest.
