Participation of PABSEC at the Meeting of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, Istanbul, 25 June 2025
On 25 June 2025, PABSEC Secretary General Mr. Asaf Hajiyev and PABSEC Deputy Secretary General Mr. Borys Kolisnychenko participated in the Meeting of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials in Istanbul. In his address, PABSEC Secretary General Mr. Asaf Hajiyev briefed participants on the outcomes of the 65th PABSEC General Assembly, held in Baku on 17–19 June under the Azerbaijani Presidency. Mr. Hajiyev noted that the Assembly was focused on enhancing connectivity and mobility through smart and sustainable transport infrastructure, and shared details on the adopted reports and recommendations promoting environmental cooperation, combating organized crime, and advancing the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society in the BSEC region. Mr. Asaf Hajiyev also emphasized the growing alignment and synergy between the PABSEC and BSEC institutions and expressed appreciation for the fruitful collaboration with BSEC PERMIS and its Secretary General, Ambassador Lazar Comanescu. PABSEC Secretary General noted the successful BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and extended his best wishes to the Republic of Bulgaria as it assumes the Chairmanship. He also outlined the Assembly’s continued engagement with other international organizations and its strengthened cooperation with regional partners including the BSTDB, ICBSS, BSEC-URTA, and BSUN. The Secretary General underscored the significance of coordinating the PABSEC and BSEC chairmanships to further harmonize legislative and intergovernmental initiatives, ultimately enhancing regional cohesion. Mr. Asaf Hajiyev also informed about the upcoming Second meeting of the Presidents of the National Academies of Sciences of the BSEC Member States, to be held on 27 June 2025 in cooperation with Istanbul University.
