The 65th Meeting of the PABSEC Committee for Legal Affairs and International Cooperation, Skopje, 29 April 2025
The 65th Meeting of the PABSEC Committee for Legal Affairs and International Cooperation was held in Skopje on 29 April 2025 upon the invitation of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia. The Meeting was attended by the national delegations of Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine, as well as a representative of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat and members of the PABSEC International Secretariat. At the opening ceremony, the participants were addressed by Mr. Afrim Gashi, President of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia, Ms. Blagica Lasovska, Head of the delegation of the Republic of North Macedonia to PABSEC, Mr. Mustafa Hamarat, Vice-Chair of the Committee for Legal Affairs and International Cooperation (Türkiye), Ms. Marina Dimovska, Secretary General of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia, and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General. The Committee discussed the draft Report and Recommendation 203/2025 “International Cooperation in the Fight against Organized Crime in the BSEC Region”, which will be submitted to the 65th Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly. The Committee elected Mr. Mustafa Hamarat (Türkiye) as the Chair of the Committee and Ms. Blagica Lasovska (North Macedonia) as the Vice-Chair of the Committee for a term of 2 years. The Committee took note of the information on the activities of the BSEC Organization presented by Ms. Merve Kavakci, First Deputy Secretary General of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat. The next 66th Meeting of the Committee will be held in Georgia in autumn 2025. It was decided to discuss “Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development in the BSEC Region - Legal Aspects” as the main issue. Mr. Petar Kanev, PABSEC Vice-President, member of the PABSEC Bulgarian delegation, was appointed as a rapporteur on this issue.
