The 13th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic States (TURKPA) was held in Baku on 6 June 2024 upon the invitation of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. At this gathering the PABSEC was represented by Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General. Delegations of the member countries led by chairmen of parliaments, as well as representatives of Turkic states' structures and international organizations took part in the Plenary Session. The theme of the Plenary Session was “Green horizons for the Turkic world: the role of parliaments in the implementation of the green agenda.” The leaders of the parliaments of the TURKPA member states addressed the Session. Speeches were also made by the leaders and representatives of Turkic cooperation organizations participating in the Plenary Session, organizations with observer status in TURKPA, international organizations and other structures. In his address to the participants of the Plenary Session, the PABSEC Secretary General noted that green development occupies an important place on the agenda of the countries of the Wider Black Sea Region and emphasized the importance of using new technologies in the renewable energy sector. He informed about the activities of the PABSEC in the field of development of green energy and green economy. The PABSEC Secretary General expressed hope for closer cooperation between the PABSEC and the TURKPA in the future. The Plenary Session adopted the Reports and Recommendations, as well as draft model laws. At the end of the 13th Plenary Session, the Baku Declaration was adopted. The next Plenary Session of the TURKPA will take place in 2025 in Kazakhstan. On the sidelines of the Plenary Session, the PABSEC Secretary General met with representatives of international organizations taking part in this gathering.
