Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the 4th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, which was organized under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Georgia, in Tbilisi, at the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre on 26-27 October 2023. The Forum was attended by approximately 2,000 representatives, including the prime ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Montenegro, senior officials from approximately 60 countries, and representatives of international organizations and the private sector. At the opening of the Forum, Mr. Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, said that the Forum is an opportunity to deepen economic, political and cultural ties between Europe and Asia. He spoke about the prospects for the development of large-scale energy, transport and logistics projects and the measures that need to be taken in the future. During the Forum, panel discussions were held, dedicated to such topical issues as trade facilitation, the development of e-commerce, transport, energy, tourism, digital and financial technologies. On the sidelines of the Forum, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, met with Mr. David Saganelidze, PABSEC Special Representative in the Silk Road Projects, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Development Fund, and discussed the possibilities of more active participation of PABSEC representatives in large-scale regional economic processes. The importance of raising awareness of PABSEC members about various projects and initiatives was underlined. Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, also met with Ambassador Altay Efendiyev, GUAM Secretary General, and discussed current issues of cooperation in the Wide Black Sea Region.
