The PABSEC Delegation, composed of Mr. Cemal Ozturk, PABSEC Vice-President, Head of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation, and Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary-General, paid a working visit to Hungary, on 1-3 March 2022 and had meetings in the National Assembly and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country. During the meeting with Mr. Laszlo Kover, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, the issue of obtaining the Observer status to the PABSEC, was discussed. The Speaker emphasized that all the formal requirements have been fulfilled, noted the importance of the Wider Black Sea region and expressed the interest in a closer cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly. The PABSEC delegation expressed its satisfaction regarding the increase of the number of the observer parliaments in the PABSEC, sharing the hope that the cooperation would be interesting and fruitful. The PABSEC delegation also informed the Speaker about the current activities of the Assembly and its Committees. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Peter Sardi, Head of the Office for Foreign Relations of the Hungarian National Assembly. During the meeting with Mr. Peter Sztaray, State Secretary for Security Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, the PABSEC delegation presented a brief information about the PABSEC and its activities. It was emphasized that a closer relationship between the Hungarian Parliament and the PABSEC, will open up new opportunities for the regional cooperation. Mr. Zsolt Nemeth, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National Assembly, organized a working lunch for the PABSEC delegation, where the prospects for cooperation between the PABSEC and the Hungarian Parliament, were discussed. The lunch was also attended by Ambassador Zsuzsanna Repas, Representative of Hungary to the Danube Commission. The PABSEC delegation also had a meeting with Mr. Lajos Kohari, Head of the Office of Parliamentary Relations. At the meeting were discussed the prospects for parliamentary cooperation in the Wider Black Sea region, also organizational and legal issues and the structure of the Parliamentary Assembly. The PABSEC delegation expressed its readiness for a further fruitful cooperation with the Hungarian National Assembly.
