On 9 August 2021, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to Chisinau (Republic of Moldova) and had meetings in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. At the meeting, Mr. Igor Grosu, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, underlined the interest of the Republic of Moldova in enhancing economic cooperation with the BSEC Member-States and developing economic projects. The President of the Parliament noted the importance of the active participation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in the activities of the PABSEC, strengthening the role of the Assembly in the Region with the aim to achieve more effective results. The PABSEC Secretary General expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to hold the meeting in the difficult pandemic conditions and noted the contribution of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in promoting the cooperation within the PABSEC, especially in the framework of the PABSEC Moldovan Presidency in the first half of 2021. The PABSEC Secretary General informed about the preparatory work of the PABSEC and its International Secretariat for the 58th PABSEC General Assembly to be held in Romania on 23-25 November 2021, as well as about the future plans, including the celebration of the PABSEC 30th anniversary in 2023. The PABSEC Secretary General met with Ms. Zinaida Greceanii, former PABSEC President, Leader of the Faction of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS). Ms. Greceanii emphasized the importance of cooperation within the framework of the PABSEC for the Republic of Moldova and the importance of implementing major economic projects, especially on the eve of the 30th Anniversary of the BSEC and the PABSEC. Ms. Greceanii noted the significant contribution of the International Secretariat led by the Secretary General in organizing the work of the Assembly, in preparing and holding the PABSEC events at a high level. Mr. Igor Dodon, Head of the PABSEC Moldovan Delegation, the former President of the country, who took part in the Meeting, highly appreciated the long-term fruitful cooperation between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the PABSEC and assured the Secretary General of further support for the activities of the Assembly. The PABSEC Secretary General expressed his gratitude to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova for the significant contribution to the implementation of the tasks and goals of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. He informed about the current and future work of the Parliamentary Assembly and about the preparation for the 58th PABSEC General Assembly to be held in Romania on 23-25 November 2021. The PABSEC Secretary General also shared his ideas and plans for the celebration of the PABSEC 30th Anniversary in 2023.
