On 5 July 2021, the Delegation of the Hungarian Parliament, composed of Mr. Akos Lajos Kohari, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian Parliament, and Ms. Krisztina Kello, staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian Parliament, visited the PABSEC International Secretariat and met with Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General. The Delegation was accompanied by Ms. Veronika Lakatos, acting Consul General of Hungary in Istanbul, and Ms. Anna Bihari, diplomat of the Consulate General. Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, welcomed the guests and informed them about the results of the 57th PABSEC General Assembly and the planned activities of the PABSEC. The Secretary General briefly introduced the representatives of the Hungarian Parliament to the rules and procedures for obtaining the observer status to the PABSEC and spoke about the cooperation mechanisms with the BSEC and the BSEC Related Bodies. Mr. Akos Lajos Kohari, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian Parliament, stressed the interest of the Hungarian Parliament in strengthening the cooperation with the PABSEC parliaments. He underlined the growing importance of the Black Sea region and the prospect of Hungary's participation in regional projects. He asked some questions regarding the formation of a delegation with observer status, as well as the organization of work within the PABSEC framework. The PABSEC Secretary General gave detailed explanations to all the questions asked by the Delegation and expressed the hope that the development of the cooperation with the Hungarian Parliament would bring a significant contribution and a new impetus to strengthening the cooperation within the PABSEC framework. The Delegation of the Hungarian Parliament expressed its gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the expediency of a reciprocal visit of the PABSEC delegation to Budapest.
